The industry-standard colour chart
RAL is an industry-standard colour chart, which means we can match our products to other colours already existing in customer homes. Founded in Europe, the purpose behind this system is to expound colours for coatings, paint and plastics. The RAL colour-matching system is overseen by the RAL Deutsches Institut für Gütesicherung und Kennzeichnung.
The colours you can choose from for your customers for their bi-fold doors ranges from bright, popular shades to pastel colours and deeper earthy tones. Below is the full 150 RAL range:
Popular colours for bi-fold door models
The popular colours for bi-fold door models are as follows:
OB-49
The following colours for OB-49 are available on a 24-hour ‘Your Lead Time, Not Ours’ lead time:
- Anthracite Grey (7016M) – anthracite grey is our most popular grey bi-fold door option. It is a great option for complementing wooden and metallic surfaces.
- Black Grey (7021M) – like black, this colour fits in with a variety of colour scheme, so customers won’t have to adapt their interior décor.
- Slate Grey (7015M) – slate grey is another popular option amongst customers and matches most brickwork and exterior finishes whilst complementing a variety of interior décor styles.
- Hipca White (9910G) - white is a hugely popular colour, especially in houses that have been decorated to match uPVC windows or doors, which are commonly white.
- Jet Black (9005M) – fitting in with most colour schemes, jet black is a common choice for bi-fold doors. Customers often choose a dark grey if the jet black finish is too strong.
- Dual Colour of 9901G and 7016M out - to allow for customers to match their bi-fold door to their interior and exterior surroundings. We also offer bespoke dual colour options outside of this combination. You can read more about this in the section below.
OB-72
In addition to the above, popular colours for the OB-72 range with short lead times also include:
- Dark Silver Metallic (9007M)
- Light Silver Metallic (9006M)
Alternatively, dual coloured or any RAL coloured door outside of the above can be selected on a 4-week lead time.
Dual colour options
Your customers can take advantage of our dual colour options, meaning their exterior colour can complement their building style, while the interior aluminium frame can blend in or contrast with their colour scheme inside. This provides customers with the ability to match their bi-fold door to their interior and exterior surroundings.

Never seen before lead times
Our popular colour range, as mentioned above, is available in as little as 24-hour lead time. When you place your order, you specify when you want your doors delivered. This means installers can take on more work, including clients with tight timescales, whilst improving project turnover, cashflow and profit. Due to Origin’s substantial investment in stock, production and operations, each Partner can feel confident that they will never miss an install day.
You can find out more about the trade lead times for our bi-fold doors in our guide.
Aluminium coating
In order to give the Origin Bi-fold Door a flawless finish, our aluminium is coated with the highest-grade powder available. Applied using an electrostatic process after a special pre-treatment, it is then cured at 200°C to form a robust coating that is tougher than conventional paint whilst maintaining a completely smooth surface.
The powder coat finish is extremely hard wearing and is resistant to scratches and colour fading for optimum longevity. The quality of the powder coating is just one reason why we can offer up to a 20-year guarantee on many of our doors.
Glass colour options
A clear glazed option is the most popular option that customers choose for bi-fold doors. Our bi-fold doors can be specified and manufactured with either triple or double glazing units, for you to source and install. Many go for clear glass, but there are many different glass types available to you outside of this, two of which include:
- Frosted glass – this is an ideal option if your customers want added privacy and don’t want to install blinds or curtains. An additional benefit of frosted glass for your customers is that it can be etched with numbers or letters. You may want to recommend this to customers who have commercial properties in which the logo, business name or street number needs to be clearly displayed.
- White glass- white glass is also a popular option for commercial properties where customers want additional light as well as privacy from outside. Some commercial customers opt for black bi-fold doors with white glass to create striking contrast in a modern-looking space.
Handle colour options

The OB-49 comes with a stainless-steel handle from our premium handle range. The handle can also be colour coordinated to match or contrast your customers’ chosen door colour.
