Options of handles

The handles of an Origin Residential Door are the perfect finishing touch to the exquisitely designed system. Your customers can choose from a selection of elegant handle styles that have been designed and manufactured with the same level of care and dedication as every other component.

When it comes to door handle options, your customers can choose between:

  • The type of handle
  • The material
  • The finish, look and style.

As with any external door - front door is exposed to rain, wind and air, and so needs to be able to withstand the worst kind of weather. External door furniture and accessories therefore need to be strong and durable. When it comes to options of finishes, your customers can choose between stainless steel, aluminium, rose gold and chrome.

Customers can choose from a selection of elegant handle styles that have been designed and manufactured with the same level of care and dedication as every other component. From fresh, modern styles for more contemporary doors, to more traditional options – your customers are guaranteed to find the perfect handle for their front door.

Locks

What are multi-point locking systems?

Multi-point locking systems work by engaging a number of bolts and hooks around the frame by lifting the handle, often known as ‘lever/lever’.

Three-point and five-point locking systems are most common:

Three-point systems have two hook bolts at the top and bottom of the frame and a combination of latch and deadbolt in the middle of the door

Five-point systems have the same, plus a pair of additional points of locking around the frame

Origin Front Doors come with a choice of two high-security locking systems:

  • Five-point automatic locking system, which can be fitted on doors which have a bar or pull handle bar. They can only be disengaged with a key, and can lock without having to lift the handle.
  • A unique eight-point locking system, which can be fitted to doors which have a security lever handle. They feature 20mm shoot bolts at the top and bottom of the track – these are chamfered, which makes them smoother and more waterproof. Eight-point locking systems feature deep-throw security hooks – locking into the frame. These 25mm hooks are the deepest hooks currently available.

You can read our specification guide to find out more about the differences between these two options.

Door knockers

If your customers choose to install a door knocker rather than a doorbell, they need one they’ll be able to hear clearly from anywhere inside the house. Knockers have a strike plate which amplifies the noise made when the knocker is used, while protecting the door from damage.

Most door knockers are made of metal, and many are plated with an alloy such as solid brass or chrome. Which type your customer opts for depends on their preferred door style and the overall aesthetic of their home. For example – if they have a period property, they would need a knocker that reflects the age of the home, while a more modern design can accommodate a wider range of styles.

At Origin, we offer two styles of door knocker—the Affinity vertical slim-line knocker and the Affinity urn knocker. Both include a spyhole for added security and come in a range of finishes, such as chrome, gold and stainless steel.

There are two door knocker styles available for the Origin Residential Door - one with an integrated spyhole and one without. Both door knockers are available in timeless stainless steel to complement any door colour. Spyholes can be specified as a standalone accessory and they are available in stainless steel.

Letter boxes and spyholes

There are a number of stylish accessories that your customers can choose to add to their Origin Residential Door, including letterboxes and spyholes, to ensure their practical requirements are met.

Hinges

While hinges serve the primary purpose of enabling a door to function, they can also make the difference between a secure and insecure home. Like door handles, they’re often a point of weakness that possible intruders look to exploit when attempting to break in to a property. So, it’s vital that you provide your customers with a hinge that won’t make their home vulnerable in this way.

Origin front doors come with three security hinges made of zinc as standard. As well as being extremely strong, they’re designed to prevent the door from being forced off from the outside—providing your customers with added peace of mind. Find out more about the hinges options here.

Threshold options

We offer three different threshold options with unique characteristics to suit your customers’ needs.

Firstly, our expertly engineered weathered threshold ensures a home will stay watertight and protected from adverse weather conditions.

Alternatively, the non-weathered options offer a level floor-finish, allowing for a smooth transition between the inside and out. Two options are available – the standard non-weathered option, or the mobility threshold, which stands at a mere 20mm when the door is open, making it ideal for wheelchair use. These thresholds are more recommended for internal usage, making them ideal for flats, doors enclosed inside a front porch, or doors that aren’t fully exposed to the weather.

It is important to find out information about the customer’s mobility, and consider practical requirements before recommending a threshold option.
