The inclusion of Aerogel, the world’s best insulator, assists these unique properties to be Carbon Neutral.

"The slim profiles, coupled with Aerogel, was exactly what this project was looking for."

- Tony Gravenor, Owner of The Glass Centre

Why Origin?

Having installed a vast variety of Window & Door brands, The Glass Centre opted for Origin knowing the quality assurance of the product and the industry best lead times. The option for having Aerogel included in the windows provided the Business with confidence that Origin were the best products available for their project.

Product Choice...

With thermal efficiency in mind, the products used were the OB-49 single doors & the OW-80 with Aerogel. Having been an Origin Trade Partner for 15+ years, Tony from The Glass Centre has incredible product knowledge and knew these products would be a perfect match for the newly built Carbon Neutral/Negative houses.

The Black Grey 7021M RAL finish was selected to have a slightly different colour to the more popular Anthracite Grey 7016M. Black Grey is also part of the popular colour lead time meaning they were able to be delivered within 48 hours from being ordered whilst being completely bespoke.

Aerogel…

Having Aerogel included in the Origin Windows was an absolute must for The Glass Centre. Known as the world’s best insulator, the buildings were able to achieve the best possible U-Values in the industry. No other aluminium manufacturer offers an inclusion of Aerogel, making Origin a first choice for anyone requiring the most thermally efficient aluminium windows. Trade Partner…

As aforementioned, The Glass Centre have been a Trade Partner of Origin for 15+ years and are a premium partner who have placed well over 1000 orders making them the #1 Trade Partner in the Brighton & Hove area. The Glass Centre have provided the following story on why they decided on these beautiful buildings:

Story on why it was built…

The site is typical of many similar areas in Brighton & Hove & indeed other urban conurbations, in as much as it is a tight urban site, where the previous use is now redundant. The planning process proved challenging, with applications being refused & appeals being lost. Reasons given were cramped form of development; Scale & bulk; Overlooking; Lack of external space. However, this was resolved by an innovative design by Liam Russell Architects, who in 2017 obtained planning consent for three sustainable units, in so doing maximising the potential of this redundant site. The clients aim for the site was for each residential unit to minimise Carbon-use & with completion having now been achieved it has been confirmed that the units are better than Carbon neutral.

A brief description of the project:

The site was previously occupied by double garages & workshops, which were no longer required. The scheme proposed the construction of three 2-bed dwellings with an open-plan

Living/Kitchen/Dining area & Shower/cloakroom @ Ground Floor. First floor consists of 2 bedrooms & a family bathroom.  Externally, each unit has the benefit of a hardstanding area adjacent together with an enclosure for bins & bikes. At first floor there is a modest balcony area.
